four seasons x

it feels as if we've experienced all four seasons in the past week; from glorious sunshine, to april showers, & now to snow showers, the weather is incredible.  i feel really lucky at the moment to be able to sit out in the sun, or stay wrapped up indoors & enjoy the weather what ever it may be....

whilst sitting, enjoying the snow flurries from the warmth & comfort of the sofa, i found some lovely *four season* appropriate lovelies on etsy, including the simple four seasons tea towel from bailey doesn't bark, who are also selling a lovely notebook set with the same design, & loved this gorgeous print *lovely 5 season birds* by neiko, & lastly *season's passing* by mandy gerth....

i wanted to bring a little of my sunny day to you all today....it's unseasonably warm, actually hot is probably a better description, and it's so lovely to be outside, to be able to open windows & doors & let the fresh air blow through the house & my thoughts....

....how long this weather will last is anyone's guess, but i'm going to make the most of every sunny minute....

today i'm feeling a little blue, so to cheer myself up i took a look through the lovely photography of nichole at *littlebrownpen*....i especially love these photography collections, grouped by colour, such a lovely way to look at the city. i would usually be planning a trip to paris right about now, but sadly not this year, well, not at the moment, so for now i'll keep looking at these images, & keep reading david lebovitz's blog & his book *the sweet life in paris* whilst drinking extra strong coffee & eating sweet macarons...

snow is promised today. i'm debating whether to go out & stock up on a few goodies so i can hibernate if the snow appears. on the other hand i had promised myself that i would tidy out the greenhouse today ready for spring seedlings, although it is so cold that spring feels a long way away.

spent a lovely couple of hours yesterday browsing through etsy, spoilt for choice as to what i should include in a little treasury....having worked out that the total cost of my 'whimsey' would be, oh a little over £500, unfortunately they will just have to continue to be just that, but a girl can wish....

arrived in portland last night, and despite it being very dark, very late & very rainy. was very excited to be here. very lucky & staying at the *ace hotel*, which is, well, just ace!

picnic.....x

childhood summers were full of picnics....salmon sandwiches, salads of lettuce, cucumber & tomato, a camping kettle to brew tea, slices of homemade fruit cake & an apple, all packed into our picnic basket, which was more like a picnic suitcase....every sunny day would be a picnic day....

today was a perfect day for a picnic...

a trip to the farm shop to buy freshly baked bread, cheeses & hams, cherries & strawberries, a bottle of wine in the cooler bag, followed by an afternoon spent in the sun in the hills.....

with the promise of more sunny days i'm off to look for that perfect vintage picnic basket

today i've realised i am a complete creature of habit even when in another country.....a sunday spent shopping, eating & sorting out washing & last minute work things seems to mirror my sunday's at home....do you think these habits give us some kind of security or do you think it might be more a case of my "ocd" ish tendancies rising to the fore?
